In 1975, the Kinzie & Payne Bio-Chemical Company in St. Louis, MO created a powdered formula called Bio-Clean®. Its secret was that it contained massive amounts of microscopic bacteria and enzymes and, when mixed with water and poured down the drain, the bacteria were allowed to grow, multiply, and eat.



The bacteria in Bio-Clean reproduce rapidly and feed on organic material that clogs pipes. They are non-poisonous and do not require anything to live except for loads of gunk to feed on. Bio-Clean has a major advantage over traditional drain cleaning chemicals and tools because it allows for maximum coverage and the bacteria don't stop until there isn't anything left for them to eat.
