Floor Drains

Floor drains are a common sight in commercial buildings. They are found in all kinds of places ranging from restrooms and locker rooms to basements and laundry facilities. But no matter where they are, they all have one job and that is to provide a place for standing water to drain.

If you've seen a floor drain before, then you'll probably remember that the floor around the drain slopes downward towards it. The purpose of this is obvious. Most floor drains are wither round or square-shaped and should always be covered by a steel grate. The grate prevents possible injury and acts as a screen to keep foreign objects out.

A common problem in many establishments with a large function kitchen or restaurant is a backup of the grease trap. This causes the floor drains, as generally the lowest outlet in the building, to overflow.
